Lake Lanier Trophy Size Stripers

Lake Lanier Striper Fishing in Gainesville, GA

According to Georgia Outdoor News: 25 years ago, Roger Snipes caught a 46-lb. Lake Lanier striped bass that became one of the longest-standing, most sought-after lake records in Georgia.

On April 3, 2010 the Lanier striper record finally fell — and to a visiting angler who was fishing with a chartreuse-pepper plastic lizard. Ward Schanhals, 74, of Central Lake, Mich., was fishing with friend Gary Brown, of Cumming, when a 47-lb., 12-oz. striper inhaled his lizard. Using spinning gear and 8-lb. test line, Ward had quite a fight on his hands.
